Questions about the courses/videos

How do I view the videos? On a Mac, you can use QuickTime or any movie/video player that supports AVI files or MP4. On a Windows PC, you can use Windows Media Player or any movie/video player that supports AVI files or MP4. On a mobile device, you will need a device that supports MP4 video.

Is this "streaming video"? No, this is not streaming video. You download the video files to your local device and watch them locally. (And you might want to read the next FAQ too!)

Do I need an internet connection to watch the videos? No, you do not need an internet connection to watch the videos. You will, however, need an internet connection to download the videos. We also offer DVD mail copies for users who prefer a hard copy (more information).

How many videos can I download? You can download every video in the course(s) you have access to, subject to our Terms of Service of course.

What's the difference between the free videos and the subscriber videos? Nothing - every once in a while, we choose a few of the subscriber-only videos and make that video available for free.

How long are the videos? Most of our videos are between 5 and 20 minutes long and around 4-18MB in size. That's the perfect size to download in a few seconds to a few minutes (depending on your connection speed).

Can I watch these videos on my {Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, Android, Linux, etc}? Yes. Laptop, desktop, and server computers will require the TSCC codec to be installed prior to viewing our AVI videos. Mobile device users (iPad, Blackberry, et al) will require MP4 videos. Most courses have both AVI and MP4 files available. For more information about how to use the TSCC codec, visit this page.

After the one year access period is up, you may no longer download videos however the videos that you have already downloaded do not expire - you can watch them 2, 3, or even 10 years from now!
